During the tile making process, neighbors shared many stories about their lives living in Southern Oaks. Neighbors often visualized these stories by carving symbols into their tiles that represented themselves, a time in their lives , or a memorial about a loved one. These stories have become a visual codex carved into the side of the wall. As a way to preserve these moments, we were able to capture a few of these tales in neighbor's own words below.

Scavenger Hunt
As a way to conserve materials, participants were asked to make interesting objects with the extra clay they had left over after cutting out their tile. Most people made leaves for the vast canopies of our big trees. People were also encouraged to create fun, imaginative things things to hide alongside the more serious tiles. Our neighbors have a great sense of humor! So many fun tiles were made during our sessions we decided to create a scavenger hunt!
